Moscow has two international airports: Domodedovo and Sheremet’evo. We recommend you to travel via Domodedovo. This is a modern airport, and there are no problems to change the plane there. There are some repair works in Sheremet’evo–2, and it is necessary to change the airport to Sheremet’evo-1 (approximately 10 km) to fly to Novosibirsk, which is somewhat inconvenient. Therefore, we advise you to fly via Domodedovo if possible.
There are several flights from Domodedovo to Novosibirsk every day (S7 and some other companies). There are many flights to Domodedovo from various European cities: London, Brussels, Berlin, Hannover, Frankfurt/Main, Geneva, Zurich, Basel, etc.
There are also direct flights from Germany to Novosibirsk by the S7 company:
1. Hannover-Novosibirsk, flight S7-856, flying on Sundays, departure time 17:20;
2. Frankfurt/Main-Novosibirsk, flight S7-852, flying on Fridays and Saturdays, departure time 19:20
The flights from the USA to Moscow (Domodedovo) are:
1. American Airlines – flight ÀÀ 159, Chicago – Moscow (Domodedovo), flying on all days except Mondays, departure time 02:15;
2. Singapore Airlines Limited, flight SQ 61, Houston – Moscow (Domodedovo), flying on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departure time 09:45.
Dear colleagues!
The Organizing Committee of the MG-XII conference and the II International Workshop on High Energy Density Hydrodynamics received many requests for information on the possible post-conference tour to Lake Baikal.
Please find the tentative general information on the possible post-conference tour. If you are interested to participate in this tour, please let me know at your earliest convenience.
1. We would like to offer a tour to Baikal for MG-XII participants, which includes:
a) flight tickets Novosibirsk-Irkutsk-Novosibirsk;
b) Irkutsk - 1 day;
c) boat tour on Lake Baikal - basic variant 3 days and 3 nights;
d) Listvyanka - 2 days, some Baikal sights that were outside the boat
tour.
The total duration of the Baikal tour is expected to be 6-7 days, depending on the flight schedule.
2. The tour is rather expensive: approximately $2000, including:
a) boat tour - $1000 (second class) to $1200 (junior suite); the boat
tour includes transfer, full board, excursions (entry tickets, guide),
fishing event, etc.
b) hotels (3 nights) - $300;
c) flight tickets - $500 to $700, depending on the flight company and
time.
There are some constraints: the minimum number of people for such a tour is 20 persons; the optimal number is 30 persons.
You can find information about Baikal, boat tours, and hotels at the following sites:
http://www.baikal-hotel.ru
http://baikal.ru
http://baikalvisa.ru
You can find information on the cost of boat tours and hotels at these sites.
3. My wife and I and also our friends deliberately had a similar tour to Baikal in 2007 to have an exact idea what we can expect as tour participants.
We were delighted. Our impressions were most favorable. Baikal is enchanting. I asked my wife whether she would like to come to Baikal again, and she answered: "Certainly yes, why do you ask?"
If the tour does take place, my wife and I will certainly participate in it.
4. Still, there are some problems:
A. I am not sure that we will have at least 20 participants, because the tour is rather expensive.
B. To have the whole tour guaranteed, it is necessary to make reservations
for the boat and hotels as soon as possible, with an advance payment made
2 or 3 months before. Thus,
So, I ask you to inform me if you are interested to take part in this tour even if you have not yet made the final decision.
Sincerely yours,
G.A.Shvetsov
